Kate is a Melburnian who trained at University of Otago, graduating in 2007.
She worked in eight hospitals across New Zealand, mainly in emergency medicine and urology, before commencing training in urgent care. She is an urgent care registrar at Silverdale Medical Centre and Shorecare, and also works with MEDSAC, undertaking forensic examinations in cases of sexual assault.
Kate is also an expert on homelessness, with a long background in public health research. She works as a Research Fellow with He Kainga Oranga/Housing & Health Research Programme, at the University of Otago. She produces New Zealand’s national homelessness statistics and is currently consulting to the Ministry of Social Development to improve homelessness measurement and responses.
