Once you have booked an appointment you will be posted a pack which contains all the information and forms required for your medical.
What do you need to bring to your appointment?
What do you need to do prior to your appointment?
You are required to have your blood tests at least 2 days prior to your medical appointment. If in the Auckland area these can be done at Labtests. See www.labtests.co.nz for locations and opening times. If outside the Auckland area these can be done by your local laboratory.
What to expect at your appointment
The medical appointment usually takes two hours. You will see the exercise physiologist first and your completed questionnaire and blood results will be reviewed. Your biometric measurements will also be taken and a resting and exercise ECG will be performed. You will then be seen by the doctor and have a full medical examination. The doctor will conclude the consultation by summarising your assessment and providing you with practical advice to enhance your health and wellbeing.
On conclusion of your appointment, the doctor writes a comprehensive report that includes information from your questionnaire and blood tests, as well as information from your consultation and physical examination. The report discusses your health and wellbeing, and recommends any lifestyle changes or treatments.
The report is sent to you, at your home address, unless otherwise specified by you during your appointment. A copy can also be sent to your GP, at your request. The turn around time for the report is approximately two working weeks.
